You can read all the survival books you want , but it wont mean spit if you don't go out and put it to use , I know alot of armchair survivalist who could talk a good game but in the end when the chips are down you will be only as good as your skills , and as I have said before survival is the art of staying alive anywhere , anytime and it could happen to you.
The one time that most people find hardest about a survival setting is when night falls , people seem to have a fear of the dark ( when night falls all those things that go bump in the night come out , my favorite time ) .For those who are like me ( I spend alot of time wandering around the deepest and darkest patch of woods by moon light ) who have spent time out after daylight hours have a ear for night sounds ( laff if you must but I have seen chipmunks put some pretty tough men out of the bush ) there are things that make noise and then there are things that don't and to be at ease you have to know what goes bump in the night and be ok with it or sleep may be along time incoming , bear , deer , wolves , horses etc don't make a whole lot of noise when on the move. Cows , people and chipmunks etc tend to make lots of noise when on the move and its the unknowing that tend to get some freaked out , so long before you are put to the test spend some time out after hours and learn what it is that scares you about the dark and get over it , in the end you may turn out to be like me ( taking those midnight moonlit walks through your local patch of woods ) and love those after hour sounds that so few of us get to hear and understand .
